St Thomas 7
St Thomas 7 September 15th 2019
Our new event for this year is the popular St Thomas 7 road race.
St Thomas Catholic Primary School, in Upper Tean Staffordshire hosts its own event as a means of encouraging fitness in the local community, placing the school on the map and raising funds for the school.
The St Thomas’ 7 Road Race was first run in 2008, with just over 100 runners.
The race utilises St Thomas’ school for its race HQ and provides those taking part with a challenging 7 mile run around the quiet and scenic surroundings of Upper Tean, Freehay and Great Gate.
The course has a number of climbs with fast decents. it takes in quiet rural lanes, the last mile is down hill but save a little for the last 200 meters (see map of course)
The race starts on Gorsty Hill, a 5 minute (signed) walk from the school. Runners will be walked to the start at 10.20
There water stations at halfway and although roads are open to other road users, the roads used are quiet rural lanes. There is a lead and sweeper vehicle as well as marshals at every junction
Runners can leave bags within the school building and whilst there is room to change, and male and female toilets, there are no showers.
